PARTS APPROACH TO THERAPY
I take a parts-based approach in my practice. The sessions aim to bring about awareness of the multi-mind model providing ways for clients to create relationships with their parts and to begin mapping their inner world.
I have not yet completed the IFS certified training and am therefore not a qualified IFS practitioner but have spent many hours learning and practicing through workshops, online groups and podcasts.

What is (IFS) Internal Family Systems ?
Internal Family systems is a model of psychotherapy that works with 'PARTS'.
It is an evidence-based form of therapy which has been shown to be highly effective in helping people understand and recover from depression, anxiety, trauma and phobias.
Internal Family Systems is based on the idea that the human mind is built up of different parts - wounded and hurt parts as well as parts that help and protect us. These parts relate to each other a bit like a family - some may get on well, while others may be in conflict. Sometimes the protector parts can become extreme because of our experiences in the world and it can then be harder to access the calm core Self. These parts can also make us behave in ways that cause conflict, distress or unhappiness in ourselves or those around us.
At the heart of Internal Family Systems theory is the belief that there is a calm, compassionate, core ‘Self’ within each of us that cannot be damaged. This Self is resourceful and knows exactly how to heal and live a full, connected and creative life. It becomes the leader, creating healing and harmony within the system.
Internal Family systems is a way of understanding ourselves and others so the aim is not only to use it in therapy sessions but to enable you to understand and apply the techniques yourself day-to-day so as you can maintain a sense of groundedness, wellbeing and control in your world.
Creative processes can be a really useful way to get to know and work with your Self and parts. The processes often provide easy access and allow us to depth the work by using drama and movement techniques, symbol/cards work, music and sound, puppets, play, and all visual arts processes…in fact just about any creative process you can imagine.
