I work well with other allied health and mental health professionals collaborating whenever possible.
I have a great deal of training and years of experience working with people with Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
I have experience and a special interest in working with;
women/girls with Autism
Autism and eating disorders
Autism and anxiety/ depression
Autism and learning/executive functioning difficulties.
I always take a strengths based approach to working and believe this is especially important when working with people in 'disbability'.
There are many people who have been mis-diagnosed and their Autism/ADHD has gone unnoticed and ignored. I have been able to support people to understand and explore aspects of their Autism/ADHD either through traditional talking therapy, education or through creative processes. Working together we discover their challenges and strengths and begin to understand other mental health issues within the context of Autism.
Arts therapy may be particularly useful for people with ASD/ADHD in;
*Developing Communication skills
*Exploring self identity and Self expression
*Understanding and practicing relational skills
*Understanding and improving sensory and emotional regulation
*Improving focus and attention
