At Work...
I have worked as an arts therapist for over 20 years and in a range of other roles prior to this. Alongside private practice I am currently employed as an arts therapist in the area of youth mental health at headspace. Previously I worked for over 10 years as an arts therapist on the medical ward at MonashChildren's as well as running a group within the Monash Health Butterfly Eating Disorder Day Program. Before completing a Masters in Creative Arts Therapy I worked as a primary school teacher, welfare worker, phone counsellor and community health service coordinator. I have enjoyed the diversity of these roles as I enjoy teaching as well as running groups and supporting people one on one. Alongside my own work I have supervised students and allied health clinicians in hospitals, community and mental health services, higher education and privately. I have developed and run a range of professional development and training sessions for staff in various settings. Some of the topics have included; Girls and Autism, Using creative arts processes in clinical settings, engaging students creatively, Creative processes and Parts work. I enjoy working with parents and families where I draw upon my clinical experience, training in Tuning in to Teens (parenting skills program) as well as my own experience as a parent. I have conducted workshops, presented at mental health and arts therapy conferences and co-authored a book chapter; CREATIVE ARTS THERAPIES AND CLIENTS WITH EATING DISORDERS Chapt. 7; Creative Arts Therapy with adolescents in an inpatient eating disorder program. I am a registered member of ANZACATA, the peak professional body for the creative arts therapies in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia/Pacific region. I integrate many different theories and models into my practice, all of which are informed and supported by Internal Family systems and Polyvagal Theory. |
I have loved and continue to love all the work I am privileged to do.
